It might be a while before Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose is back from knee surgery, but fans could soon have a little bit of the point guard delivered to their homes — on a pizza box.

Giordano’s famous Chicago-style pizza is revamping its brand, and according to CEO and President Yorgo Koutsogiorgas, they’re pulling hometown boy Derrick Rose off the bench to help grow their team.

The pizza chain announced Thursday Rose is now an equity owner and national spokesperson, which means his face will be front and center on a new advertising campaign. He’ll also help launch a new menu of salads, thin crust pizzas and sandwiches.

Giordano’s currently has 40 Chicago area locations and ships its deep dish pizza across the US. It’s the first time the company will have an athlete or celebrity as its spokesperson.

“I’m proud to call Chicago my hometown and I’ve grown up with my family eating Giordano’s pizza,” Rose said in a statement. “I’ve always loved Giordano’s, so this was a uniquely personal opportunity for me.”

The MVP point guard added he’s even working on his own signature pizza for Giordano’s. And if you’re questioning his culinary chops, Rose says he is “actually pretty good in the kitchen.

The company says Rose will appear in Giordano’s advertisments and possibly pay visits to local restaurants later this month.
