Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s nominee for Chicago city clerk sailed through her first committee vote Tuesday. Most of the questions Anna Valencia got from aldermen were not actually questions but compliments. Valencia worked closely with the city council when she served in the mayor’s office as the director of legislative counsel and government affairs. She said she wants aldermen to join her on a listening tour across the city. Valencia still needs approval from the full city council
