Every Person Is a Philosopher is a celebration and fundraiser supporting the Neighborhood Writing Alliance’s efforts to provoke dialogue, build community, and promote change by creating opportunities for adults to write, publish, and perform works about their lives. The evening will feature readings by three of our own Journal of Ordinary Thought writers and a conversation between Dolen Perkins-Valdez, author of the New York Times bestseller Wench, and Michelle M. Wright, associate professor of Black European and African Diaspora Studies at Northwestern University. NWA Board Member Natalie Moore, reporter for WBEZ, will once again serve as the chair of the event, which will include a silent auction in addition to mingling, hors d’ oeuvres, and our signature Ink Martinis. Every Person Is a Philosopher will elevate the visibility of the Neighborhood Writing Alliance and generate funds to directly support our 400 programs each year.
