Lake County’s flooding crisis seems to be almost over. Water levels along the Fox River there are on their way down. And the Chain O’ Lakes will likely crest tomorrow. Kent McKenzie is Lake County’s emergency management coordinator. He says officials will fly over the area to better assess flood damage.

MCKENZIE: It’ll help us find areas that may have been overlooked from ground-based damage assessment and it’ll help us do predictive modeling for future storms so we can ahead of the time tell communities whether they’re going to be impacted or not.

In McHenry County, sandbagging efforts are still going on along the Fox River. Levels there are about two feet above flood stage. Officials expect more water to come down from Wisconsin and the flood waters should remain for a couple of weeks.
