On Friday’s Afternoon Shift we get into the discussion on race happening across our airwaves and website all summer.

First we take a ride on the CTA’s Red Line to survey the racial make-up of the passengers.

Then we listen to a documentary from Peabody Award winner Alex Kotlowitz on interracial adoption.

WBEZ’s Natalie Moore will also fill us in on the public reaction to our coverage thus far.

In our second hour we kick off with our 3@3 review panel- today consisting of Rick Kogan and Randi Belisomo.

As we come off a triple-digit day, and prepare for a sweltering week in the 90’s, Fidel Marquez of ComEd comes in to talk about power usage, power outages, power saving, and more.

Finally, the Insight Labs guys tackle one of the biggest topics around: education.  They’ll explain why they think  it’s not about test scores, or dollars, or unions, or privatization. They say we need to completely re-think the very purpose of school.
