It’s Thursday and time for our Global Activism series. Each Thursday we hear about an individual who’s decided to work to make the world a better place.

Eve Bratman is a doctoral candidate at American University and a co-founder of Sementes e Artesanato de Recursos Florestais da Amazônia (SAFRA). Dara Hoppe is also a co-founder of SAFRA.

Their organization has worked with women living in the Brazilian state of Para to start a jewelry collective. Women use the Amazon’s resources in a sustainable manner to make the jewelry.  They then sell the jewelry and gain more financial independence.

Eve Bratman told Jerome what the area they worked in is like.
