The most densely populated refugee camp in the West Bank is called Balata.  The camp is home to almost 25,000 residents who live on less than one square kilometer. 

The children of Balata are hit especially hard, and have few outlets for dealing with the traumas of living in such a violent and crowded atmosphere.

Matthew Cassel is the co-founder of Picture Balata, an organization that teaches photography to children in the Balata Refugee Camp in the West Bank.  He’s now touring the U.S. with three Palestinian teenagers from the camp.

Jerome spoke with Hadil, Sabreen, and Taha about their involvement in the Picture Balata project.
