Hillary Clinton Wins Democratic Presidential Primary In Illinois

Hillary Clinton has won the Democratic presidential primary in Illinois.

The former secretary of state narrowly defeated Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders on Tuesday to claim victory in the state where she was born.

At stake are 182 delegates, most of which will be awarded proportionately based on Tuesday's results. It takes 2,383 delegates to win the nomination.

Clinton and Sanders both made several stops in Illinois in the run-up to the primary, as Sanders looked to repeat his unexpected victory a week earlier in Michigan and Clinton hoped to avoid another loss.

Clinton spoke recently in Chicago about how to create more good-paying jobs. Sanders held rallies in the Chicago suburbs and the University of Illinois in Champaign, where he talked up his plan to provide free public college tuition.
