Now – in the early stages of the current basketball season – the Chicago Bulls are at the bottom of their division, looking up, hopefully. But a greater challenge comes at a much younger age.  For grade schoolers, learning how to dribble a basketball isn’t nearly as important as learning the basic value of teamwork. To get there, they need a good coach. 

Writer and rock music critic Greg Kot has aimed to be just that and he’s just co-authored a book about the experience called Survival Guide for Coaching Youth Basketball.

Kot told Chicago Public Radio’s Dan Bindert that coaching offered a welcome diversion from his workday life.
