workstationShhhh. I stole Reuters table. It had to be done. Our crew arrived at Invesco Field for the final night of the DNC around 2pm central. After 2 hours of sweating, scraping and clawing, we are up and running! There is a media center in the bowels of the stadium, with 2 TVs and about 500+ media and about 200 seats. So I helped out a guy move a table from the hallway so we could set up a workspace. I feel more like a carpenter than a blogger today. I have been cutting off pieces of duct tape from around the stadium and I borrowed a power supply spot from a reporter from Boston. Then I snuck into the Denver Bronco workshop and stole a piece of carpet, cut some more duct tape and I now have a work station. Everyone is super stressed. And nobody likes the traveling media. They get their own spot with wide open chairs/tables, cables and power behind a curtain. But you know they get great access already so they are probably down on the field. This is not the usual DNC. This is more like the Super Bowl, sans beer and the radar gun game where you can test the speed of your arm. Someone told me they overbooked tonight by 40 percent. Then they told me that I needed to move my bag. Ben is here, Rob is here and Amanda Vinicky from Illinois Public Radio is here. I’m on and I’m ready to give you the inside scoop. Unless someone trips over my chord or steals my chair. Or beats me up for my wireless connection. All could happen. Stay tuned…
