Owners of a low-income housing project are asking the Supreme Court to stop the city of Joliet from taking over the land. Joliet has been fighting a legal battle to re-develop Evergreen Terrace for more than a decade, over civil rights and fair-housing objections. Most residents are African-American, and as many as two-thirds of them could be displaced.
