This one-day workshop being held at the First Congregational Church of Wilmette, UCC, Making Peace with Revelation explores the paths to peace illuminated in the Book of Revelation.

The day begins with Dr. Jim Papandrea, Assistant Professor of Church History at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, providing the historical context for the texts, and Dr. Charles Mabee, Professor and Director of M.Div. program at Ecumenical Theological Seminary, Detroit, arguing that contrary to popular imagery, the Book of Revelation is not about divine retribution but a warning about human violence and war. The workshop also includes small group discussions with organizations working for peace and justice in Chicago and globally: Nonviolent Peaceforce, CARE and CeaseFire.
