New Law Allows Illinois EMTs To Ditch EpiPen

Emergency service providers in the state will soon be allowed to ditch the expensive EpiPen for a cheaper option to treat allergic reactions. The EpiPen, which administers epinephrine via an auto-injector system, has gone up in price by hundreds of dollars in recent years. A new law will allow emergency service technicians in Illinois administer epinephrine without the assistance of an auto-injector system.

The law takes effect in January 2017.
