In the new documentary film Nuclear Tipping Point, former Secretaries of State George Shultz and Henry Kissinger, former Secretary of Defense William Perry, and former Senator Sam Nunn share the personal experiences that led them to write three op-eds in the Wall Street Journal in support of a world free of nuclear weapons and the steps needed to get there. The Chicago Council and former Senator Sam Nunn host a film screening and conversation on the ongoing global effort to reduce reliance on nuclear weapons, prevent their falling into potentially dangerous hands, and ultimately eliminate them as a threat to the world.

Sam Nunn is cochairman and chief executive officer of the Nuclear Threat Initiative, a charitable organization working to reduce the global threats from nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons. He served as a United States senator from Georgia from 1972 to 1996 and is retired from the law firm King & Spalding. During his tenure in the U.S. Senate, Nunn served as chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee and the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations. He also served on the Intelligence and Small Business Committees. Nunn is a distinguished professor in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs at Georgia Tech and is chairman of the board of the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C. After active duty, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve for six years and attended Georgia Tech, Emory University, and Emory Law School.
