Earlier this month, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni was sworn in for his fourth term in office. The ceremony was marked by a protest that drew a bigger crowd than the inauguration.
Museveni has run the country for almost a quarter of a century now. And opposition leader Kizza Besigye claims the most recent vote was rigged.
In the past few weeks, government forces have tried to crush ongoing demonstrations that have been called the “Walk to Work” protests. Some unarmed protesters have been shot and killed.
