The Raven Award for Excellence in Arts and Entertainment will be presented to Lookingglass Ensemble member Heidi Stillman for her exceptionally literate and dramatic adaptation and direction of Fyodor Dostoevsky’s The Brothers Karamazov, performed during the Lookingglass Theatre’s 2008 season. As playwright George Bernard Shaw said, “We use a glass mirror to see our faces. We use the arts to see our souls.” With the presentation of the first Raven Award for Excellence in Art and Entertainment, we honor an artist who allowed us a glimpse of our souls.

The Raven Foundation seeks to make religion reasonable, violence unthinkable and peace a possibility. By entering into the conversations taking place in the arts, entertainment and wider culture around war and peace, violence, identity and desire, we hope to challenge conventional wisdom and open pathways to authentically peaceful communities.
