Digital media are changing the way young people learn, play, socialize, and participate in civic life. The MacArthur and Pearson foundations are hosting a panel of experts to discuss the role digital media play in young people’s lives. They will base their conversation on clips from a recent PBS documentary, “Digital Media: New Learners of the 21st Century.”

Speakers include: Karen Cator, Director of the Office of Educational Technology, U.S. Department of Education; Mary Dempsey, Commissioner, Chicago Public Library; Shani Edmonds, Founding Student, Digital Youth Network; Robert Gallucci, President, MacArthur Foundation; Mark Nieker, President, Pearson Foundation; Nichole Pinkard, Visiting Associate Professor, DePaul University; Katie Salen, Professor, Parsons the New School for Design; and Connie Yowell, Director, Education, MacArthur Foundation.
