Chicago Alderman Sandi Jackson, 7th, is now running for two city offices, but she’ll have to pick one in the next week or so. Just minutes before Monday’s filing deadline for the February municipal elections, Jackson turned in paperwork to run for re-election as alderman, and to run for city clerk.

Jackson says she will talk with her constituents, friends and family before deciding which office to seek.

“We’re going to talk this stuff over over turkey dinner and we’ll let you know. Thank you everybody!” Jackson told reporters Monday evening.

Jackson has five business days to tell the Chicago election board whether she is running for alderman, or for city clerk. If she chooses to run for clerk, she may face up to six opponents. The incumbent, Miguel del Valle, has chosen to campaign for mayor.

Should Jackson choose to seek a second term as alderman, she could face up to 11 challengers.

Jackson, who represents parts of Chicago’s southeast side, is married to U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr.
