Senator Dick Durbin, D-Ill, was involved in the contentious talks leading up to the deal over the nation’s debt limit. And even though the senator is on recess, he can’t relax yet.

Durbin says he’s in the hot seat as a guest on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, tonight.

“You know, I don’t mind doing Meet the Press. I don’t break a sweat after all the times I’ve done it. But this is my first on the Daily Show. So I’m not quite sure what this is going to be like,” Durbin said.

The Democratic Senator voted in favor of the debt deal, as did his counterpart Mark Kirk, R-Ill.

The plan allows the debt limit to increase to $14.3 trillion. A 10-year discretionary spending cap of about $1 trillion has also been enacted to reduce the deficit.

The president signed the legislation earlier this week.
