Senegal hailed as shining example of democracy following elections

Senegal’s democracy is holding steady. Macky Sall won a clear victory in the Senegalese presidential elections over the weekend. He defeated longtime leader Abdoulaye Wade. Wade’s bid for a third term -- which would defy the two term limit -- had sparked violence and protest throughout the country. Many Senegalese feared he wouldn't leave power, but Wade conceded defeat several hours after the ballots had been counted. Worldview talks with Columbia professor Souleymane Bachir Diagne about what the new presidency means for Senegal.
