You might not understand what Chicago MC Serengeti is all about on the first listen. Listen closer and you’ll find that he writes sad, melancholy songs with lyrics filled with intricate and odd narratives. Often he’s unkown to write songs for several different personas that he enacts on stage and in his videos. No he doesn’t have Multiple Personality Disorder, he’s just sick of traditional rap.

Serengeti is set to release his new album Family and Friends later this month. He joins Jesse Menendez on MusicVox to explain the characters he creates in his head and his songs, debut new music and explain his unconventional style of rap.
