South Sudan became the world’s newest nation last Saturday. It’s taken nearly 50 years. Some two million people died in the struggle that led to Saturday’s festivities. Chicagoan Kenneth Elisapana joined in the celebration from Chicago. He fled his country’s civil war in 1992 and has worked to rebuild Southern Sudan since. He’s with us to talk about what this moment means to him.  Kenneth is the founder of South Sudan Voices of Hope for Relief and Development.
