Steve Almond joins writer and performer Janice Erlbaum for a night of wayward youth, freaky sex, family drama, and comic relief. Almond is the author of two short story collections, My Life in Heavy Metal and The Evil BB Chow and Other Stories, and the bestselling Candyfreak: A Journey Through the Chocolate Underbelly of America.  He writes a regular column on sex for Nextbook.org. Erlbaum’s book, GIRLBOMB: A Halfway Homeless Memoir, describes how she ran away from home at 15 and her odyssey through the streets, shelters, and clubs of New York. A self-styled “female grenade,” Erlbaum has written for BUST, New York Press, and McSweeneys.net.  Her performance of “Aunt Linda’s a Singer” can be heard on Nextbook.orgPlease note: This reading contains sexually explicit language.

Recorded Wednesday, March 07, 2007 at Abbey Pub.
