Most Chicago Public School students who graduate from high school get the message loud and clear that college is the next important step. But far too few actually complete the steps to enrolling. That’s what the University of Chicago’s Consortium on Chicago School Research found.

The consortium’s new report was released today. The researchers followed 105 students for nearly two years to try and understand what keeps so many CPS students from enrolling. And they surveyed some 6-thousand CPS high school graduates.

Chicago Public Radio’s Melba Lara talked with Melissa Roderick, the lead researcher on the study.
