Building Museums as Centers of Civic Engagement is a Chicago Cultural Alliance program composed of a series of community and cross-cultural events in which Chicagoans are invited to discuss topics that matter to our communities. These topics are related to themes such as immigration, health, identity, youth, or environment. “Family Dynamics: Power and Identity” is a dialogue focusing on the dynamics of Arab-American and Chinese-American families. Both communities discuss the tension between the younger and older generations as well as the challenges of maintaining cultural practices with American-born children.
Recorded Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at the Chinese-American Museum of Chicago.
