By Jennifer BrandelChicago Bulls fans are breathing a sigh of relief after a last second win Tuesday night over the Atlanta Hawks.
The Bulls were down by 19 points when the fourth quarter began. But star point guard Derrick Rose closed that gap and contributed 17 points.
Some missed opportunities to pull ahead by both teams left them tied during a timeout with moments left in the game. With 3.7 seconds left on the clock, Bulls center Joakim Noah fed the ball to forward Luol Deng - who delivered a layup that put Chicago ahead by two.
Atlanta’s Joe Johnson heaved an air ball at the buzzer - giving the Bulls a win. The final score: Bulls 76, Hawks 74. Luol Deng ended the game with 21 points, and Derrick Rose, 30. Bulls forward Carlos Boozer also scored in the double digits with 11 points.
Tuesday night’s improbable victory puts Chicago at 5 wins and 1 loss. They play in Detroit Wednesday against the Pistons.
