►Illinois pays a private company more than a hundred million dollars every year to take care of the medical needs of Illinois prisoners. But there is evidence that the care is often terrible, resulting in pain for prisoners and a bad deal for taxpayers.

►School has been in session for just about a month and teachers in three districts across the Chicago area have gone on strike. Two more may be on the way.
