Paul Collier is a professor of economics and director for the Centre for the Study of African Economies at the University of Oxford. Collier is a specialist in the politi-cal, economic and developmental predicaments of poor countries. Following his popular book, The Bottom Billion, his new book, The Plundered Planet: Why We Must – and How We Can – Manage Nature for Global Prosperity builds upon Collier’s renowned work on developing countries and the poorest populations to confront the global mismanagement of nature. Proper stewardship of natural assets and liabilities is a matter of planetary urgency. The book charts a course be-tween unchecked profiteering on the one hand and environmental romanticism on the other to offer real-istic and sustainable solutions to dauntingly complex issues.
