How healthy is Chicago’s economy? Where do our tax dollars go? What are TIFs and who benefits from them? Imagine if the city were to spend $10 million in your neighborhood, how should that be spent and why? Everyone agrees we need jobs, but what else can be done to improve our communities?

Join us for intimate facilitated community conversations - in Englewood, Pilsen and Austin - that will take up these questions and more: December 12th at the WBEZ South Side Bureau, December 13th at the Pop Up JUST Arts Center, and December 14th for Café Society at Ron’s Barbershop.

Presented by Chicago Public Media, Social Justice Initiative at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and The Public Square - a program of the Illinois Humanities Council, this three-part series is being held in conjunction with the 2012 UIC Urban Forum: “Metropolitan Resistance in a Time of Economic Turmoil” which will bring together civic and community leaders to address the issues metropolitan areas have been experiencing as well as their responses and strategies to address those challenges and improve quality of life.
