This is a not-to-be-missed event that Young Chicago Authors had the honor of hosting for the second time! The name “The Riots on the Warpland” pays homage to Gwendolyn Brooks, who grew up on the south side of Chicago. This poetry slam is a precursor to the 11th annual Louder Than A Bomb—held at the end of February—where teams from over 60 schools in the Chicago area will compete at Columbia College.

This is a poetry slam between multiple South Side high schools and South Side students. This event is a collaboration between Young Chicago Authors and the poetry coaches at Curie Metro High School and TEAM Englewood High School.
