As we near the end of the year, the Chicago Public School system is approaching a deadline to improve the options available for public school students in the city.

Four years ago, Chicago launched the Renaissance 2010 program with a goal of creating 100 new, high-quality public schools by the end of the decade. Catalyst Magazine reports on school reform issues in Chicago and has just completed a new analysis of the initiative.

Editor Veronica Anderson says that while the program does have its problems, at its heart it’s serving the intended purpose. Catalyst released the results of their study on their Website today.
