On Thursday’s episode of Afternoon Shift we talk about people united by their desire for nothing crazy to happen on their watch. First we look at the faith of the U.S. President from Washington to Obama. Though their practice has been different, I’m guessing they all prayed nothing bad happened while they were in charge.

Then we get a preview of this weekend’s Cubs-Sox Crosstown Classic from Cheryl Raye-Stout. Anytime Cubs fans and White Sox fans have to ride the Red Line together everyone holds their breath, hoping no fights erupt.

Our entire second hour is devoted to a NATO Survival Guide. This conference, and its potential for pandemonum, has been a singluar obsession of Chicago media for weeks. We talk with experts in a variety of fields to get a sense of what’s really going on and what’s just hype.
