Ulf Erdmann Ziegler is a writer and critic living in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.  Following his M.A. in Contemporary German Literature, FU Berlin, in 1989, he worked as an art pages editor for the national daily ‘taz’ in Berlin, and has been a corresponding editor for Art in America (from Germany) since 1992.  He has been the feature writer in a sociological project with Ulrich Beck and photographer Timm Rautert which became the book and exhibition Eigenes Leben (“Own Life”), in 1995.  Turning out to be an interpreter of and spokesman for contemporary photography he curated The World as One: Photography from Germany after 1989 (commissioned by Germany’s IfA 2000), a show which has been seen in Australia, Asia and Latin America, currently travelling in Eastern Europe.  Hamburger Hochbahn (“The Hamburg Elevated”), published in March by Wallstein Verlag in 2007, is his first novel, heading the German SWR critics’ list in April.
