Beginning tonight, I feature a new segment called “From the Stage” highlights of shows recorded around Chicago.

Tonight features the man known as the Chicago Griot, Morikeba Kouyate.

He’s a Kora master from Senegal who’s been playing the African stringed instrument since adolescence.

He’s considered one of the world’s premiere kora players and has performed for African Royalty and presidents of many countries.

Tonight’s performance occured in February as part of Navy Pier’s Lunchtime Concert series.

And, get ready for a far out yet beautiful rendition on one of Black Sabbath’s signature songs done up with lutes and hurdy-gurdy’s.

Plus, music that’s an integral part of the Haitian Voodoo religion.
