Where I’m From
Where I’m From
The Neighborhood Writing Alliance, publisher of The Journal of Ordinary Thought, facilitates opportunities for adults in low-income Chicago neighborhoods to write, publish, and perform works about their lives. This is your chance to hear their vivid, original, and thought-provoking stories about laughter and humor across Chicago.
Contributors combined their theme “Where I’m From” with the 2009 Chicago Humanities Festival’s theme of Laughter for a vivid and original performance. Vocalist and performer Glenda Zahra Baker accompanies the writers with percussion, song and movement as they read thought-provoking poetry and narrative about humor and laughter where they “come from”.
Recorded Sunday, November 08, 2009 at First United Methodist Church.
