A woman who was allegedly raped by two on-duty Chicago police officers has filed a federal lawsuit.

The two cops, Paul Clavijo and Juan Vasquez, were charged with criminal sexual assault and official misconduct in Cook County court earlier this month.

Attorney Jon Loevy represents the alleged victim. He said his client is now looking to be compensated for her suffering. Loevy said the Chicago Police Department and the city have been named in the federal lawsuit in addition to the two men.

“The city shares some of the responsibility and some of the blame for not having a good system in place to deter misconduct because of the failure of supervision and discipline,” he said.

An official from the city’s law department did not have any immediate comment on the suit.

The two officers have been stripped of their police powers, and they are each free on $500,000 bond.
