Worldview frequently checked in with Chicagoan Ahmed Rehab who was in Cairo during the mass protest movement that eventually brought down President Hosni Mubarak. Ahmed, also the executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations-Chicago, left Egypt this week. He joins us in studio to reflect on his experiences. A new production of Handel’s “Hercules” opens Friday at the Lyric Opera of Chicago. Onstage, Hercules is an American general, returning home from war in Iraq and Afghanistan. Backstage, there’s someone with unique ties to the region watching and learning, Lebanese actor and director Maya Zbib. WBEZ’s Lynette Kalsnes gives us the story.
