After 33 years of rule, Yemen’s president, Ali Abdullah Saleh, handed over power to his deputy. Charles Schmitz, president of the American Institute of Yemeni Studies, says the move won’t change much. This week, millions of Congolese voters headed to the polls despite widespread violence and reports of ballot stuffing, bribery and fraud.
