Myanmar held historic elections over the weekend, giving hope to many in a country suppressed by military rule for more than two decades. National League for Democracy Party (NLP) front-runner and Nobel laureate Aung San Suu Kyi finally won her first seat in parliament. Maureen Aung-Thwin, director of the Open Society Foundation’s Burma Project, discusses what this means for the country’s future.
