Advocates for Guantanamo Bay detainees thought President Obama’s election would resolve the issue of indefinite detention. But after nearly four years in office, the opposite has occurred. Jack Goldsmith, author of Power and Constraint: The Accountable Presidency After 9/11 discusses the shifts in the judicial system amidst changing social pressures, civil liberties and presidents. Also, WBEZ’s Odette Yousef reports from Pakistan about one man’s experiment to see if high standards can bring broad social change to his country. And, nearly 60 percent of Colombia’s millions of internally displaced persons (IDPs) are women.
