Yesterday, in a major speech, U.S. attorney Patrick Fitzgerald defended the Patriot Act and said the most important shift in fighting terror over the past decade has been the new level of cooperation between intelligence and law enforcement. We get reaction and analysis from human rights lawyer Scott Horton from Columbia Law School. Later in the hour, we turn our eyes to Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, a city that gained international notoriety in the 1990s for its epidemic of female abductions. In the next installment of our series Ground Shifters, reporter Jean Friedman-Rudovsky profiles Marisela Ortiz, an activist who has spent years fighting for the families of “femicide.”
