Illinois lawmakers and community advocates are calling on Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner to approve measures that would strengthen laws against hate crimes. One bill would require offenders to take educational classes about the group they violated. Another measure would expand the definition of a hate crime by including incidents that happen online.
