A state Democrat who was beaten in the primary after breaking with the party is running for his old seat again. Ken Dunkin represented Illinois 5th house district for more than a dozen years. In 2015, Springfield Democrats had a veto-proof majority if they all stuck together, but Dunkin broke rank on a few key votes. That led to him losing the backing of the Democratic establishment and losing last year’s primary.

But now the candidate that beat him, Juliana Stratton, is running for Lieutenant Governor, and Dunkin’s seeking his old office once more. Other candidates for the Democratic nomination include Tregg Duerson, Lamont Robinson, and Dilara Sayeed.
