Sheriff’s Department In DuPage County Is Helping Teach People With Disabilities How To Interact Safely With Police

The Sheriff’s Department in Suburban DuPage County is helping teach people with disabilities how to safely interact with police. The program is primarily meant for drivers with autism, or other disabilities that can cause someone to speak or engage in a way that is difficult to read. It consists of a classroom lesson, followed by a series of mock traffic stops, and is a partnership with Marianjoy Rehabilitation hospital.
