China edges out France as number one consumer of red wine
For the first time, China has overtaken France as the number one consumer of red wine in the world, leaving the French in second place, followed by the Italians. The United States is still holding strong as the top consumer of all types of wine. The growing Chinese middle class has displayed an interest in foreign goods, and with red as a lucky color, European Merlots, Cabernets and Bordeauxs are flying off the shelves.Mike Veseth of the blog, The Wine Economist will guide us through the global wine industry.
