Dozens Dead After Volcano Explodes In Guatemala

Guatemala’s Fuego volcano has erupted in the country’s rural heartland. The government estimates that 25 people are dead from falling ash, smoke, and lava flows. Poorer communities, up the mountains, are trapped but have been spared from destruction. Recently-developed neighborhoods, at the base of the volcano, have been most affected. Nina Jorgensen helped develop those areas for the nonprofit she founded, Vamos Adelante. Worldview calls Nina, who is just outside of the evacuation zone. Her Illinois-based organization is taking donations for humanitarian needs: Vamos Adelante ℅ Robert Masterson Jr. 41 W. 655 Main Street Rd. Elbern, Illinois, 60119
