According to a joint report from the International Center for Research on Women and the partnership Girls Not Brides, there are currently close to 70 million child brides around the world. Anne-Marie Hutchinson, a United Kingdom-based attorney and worldwide expert on forced marriage, says that the problem persists in the United States. She gave a talk titled ‘Forced Marriage in Your Own Backyard’ Thursday night at the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers annual meeting.
