French legislators take on gender equality and tackle everything from abortion to parental leave

This week French lawmakers approved legislation that makes abortion more accessible for women. Abortion has been legal in France since 1975 and a recent poll found that 86 percent of French women support universal access to abortion. The amendment to France’s abortion law was part of a larger gender parity bill being debated by the French parliament. Sandra Reineke, author of Beauvoir and Her Sisters.
