South by Southwest festival (SXSW), an annual series of festivals and conferences featuring film and music, wrapped up in Austin, Texas last Sunday. Presidential candidates including Amy Klobuchar, Beto O’Rourke and Elizabeth Warren all made appearances at the festival, as did our very own music contributor, Catalina Maria Johnson. Catalina is also a host and producer on Vocalo’s Beat Latino. On today’s Global Notes, she joins Worldview today to recap some of her favorite performance of SXSW 2019. We’re playing music from artists like Yola, a Brit who brings together orchestral strings, fiddle, steel and tremolo guitars, and American rock and roll band Low Cut Connie.
