Highlife music originated in Ghana at the turn of the 20th century. It combines traditional Akan music with Western instruments and ideas. As the century went on it absorbed different influences from around the world. So it's got a bit of jazz, a bit of swing, it's got a bit of blues and even a bit of Latin music. On this week's Global Notes Radio M and Morning Shift host Tony Sarabia tells us more about the genre and shares some his favorite Highlife tunes.
